Firefighters Ready at Start

5th Alarm Events is a nonprofit corporation recently organized from the team of Shoreline Fire Department IAFF Local 1760 members that have primarily been responsible for the Seattle Firefighter Stairclimb.  This event began some 19 years ago when a Shoreline Firefighter decided to run up the Columbia Center Building in full bunker gear and a breathing apparatus while participating in the Big Climb for the Leukemia Society.  The next year he challenged other firefighters from neighboring departments to participate in the event – with twenty-seven additional paarticipants a new event was in the making. We are now on the 18^th Annual Firefighter Stairclimb with 1,500 participants scheduled to raise money for Leukemia & Lymphoma.
